Our first example of our pricing is a 1-color, navy print on a Athletic Heather 100% cotton t-shirt. This is the most cost effective in terms of printing and setup. The shirt color is considered a light and is therefore a bit more than white shirts and less than dark colored shirts.

Here the customer ordered as follows:
Total Quantity: 72
Colors & location: 1-1
Price per shirt:$5.60

How Much Do Custom Shirts Cost?

The second example consists of a black 100% cotton t-shirt printed of the front with 2 visible colors and 1 white which is used as the base coat. Here the price reflects a dark shirt color, a smaller amount than the order above, as well as additional cost of printing on a dark shirt.

Here the customer ordered as follows:
Total Quantity: 36
Colors & location: 3-1
Price per shirt:$8.55

Our final example is a white 100% cotton t-shirt, printed with 3 colors on the back and 3 colors on the front left chest (not shown). Here the customer has more printing locations and colors but on a less expensive t-shirt than the previous two examples. They also ordered many more shirts, thus this is reflected in the pricing below.

Here the customer ordered as follows:
Total Quantity:550
Colors & location: 3-2
Price per shirt:$4.42

With so many factors and variables, pricing can be a bit hard to understand but we will attempt to help you understand this process. Some of the factors that help create the price are the shirt/apparel cost, the quantity of items that you will be having printed, and what will be printed on those items.

We must quote each job individually because of all the factors, but feel free to send us the information for next job and we'll give you a quote.

Apparel:The apparel cost is determined by many factors. Type of item, brand, weight, materials, size, and the color. All these factors play into the price of the item. One rule of thumb is that dark colored shirts generally cost more than lighter shirts. One other factor to keep in mind is the style. A tank top may use less material than a t-shirt but is not as common as t-shirts therefore the price is normally more than a standard t-shirt.

Quantity: Each job, no matter how big or small, requires the same set up. This entails creating the photo ready artwork, exposing the screens with that artwork, and then registering the screens on the press. Therefore, the cost of that "set up" is spread out though the number of shirts ordered. The smaller the job, the more that "set up" cost is reflected in the price.

Printing: The actual printing of the items is the final equation in the price. The more colors, the more time it takes to register the press as well as printing of the items. The process which is used also can determine the price. Spot color is the most cost effective, where as 4-color process can take much more time to set up and print, therefore making it more expensive. Another factor in the printing is the color of shirts used. The darker the shirt, the more difficult it is to print. Most often there is a need for a white screen to be printed fist, then "flashed" which cures the ink so that the other colors can printed on top of the white. It's similar to painting a black wall white, the first coat will look grey.

To the left we have some examples of orders to help you get a feel for the pricing.
